In children with cystic fibrosis (CF), acute respiratory deterioration resulting in hospitalization is associated with significant morbidity and negative impact on quality of life.
To evaluate possible associations between common functional test scores in CF and risk for acute hospitalization, researchers in Italy conducted a 5-year longitudinal study of 26 children with CF and mild lung impairment (mean age in year 1, 10.2 years).
