As use of electronic vapor products (EVPs — including electronic cigarettes, cigars, and vape pipes) by adolescents becomes more prevalent, it is important to develop a profile of those who use them. Investigators from the CDC used 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey data to examine differences in 12 health-risk behaviors (e.g., other substance use, texting while driving, attempting suicide, carrying a weapon) among four groups of high school students characterized by their tobacco use in the past 30 days: nonuse of any tobacco product (74%), cigarette use only (3%), EVP use only (16%), and dual use (using both cigarettes and EVPs, 8%).
