Making recommendations for activity regimens for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is challenging. On one hand, HCM is associated with sudden cardiac death in competitive athletes. On the other hand, individuals with HCM generally are sedentary and have impaired peak oxygen consumption (VO2), which may have deleterious effects.
