Several trials have been published in the last 2 years showing that endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) with stent retriever devices improves outcomes for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) ischemic strokes. These trials have evaluated patient outcomes for 90 days following the initial event. Whether EVT has more prolonged benefit is unclear.
The investigators from the REVASCAT trial analyzed neurologic outcomes and quality of life in patients up to 1 year following stroke onset. The analysis was funded by an unrestricted manufacturer's grant.
