Background and Objective
Magnetic resonance imaging/magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRI/MRCP) is the preferred noninvasive modality in evaluating patients with suspected primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). A working group has developed guidance statements on the use of MRI/MCRP in diagnosis and management of PSC, based on recent literature and their own expertise.
Key Recommendations
Use MRCP as the first diagnostic imaging modality for suspected PSC. MRCP alone or with contrast (i.e., MRI/MRCP) is sufficient.
