Transcatheter mitral-valve replacement (TMVR) for degenerated mitral bioprostheses and failed annuloplasty rings is a less invasive alternative to repeat surgery, especially in patients at high surgical risk. Recently, the FDA approved a device for this new indication based on data from a U.S. national transcatheter valve therapy registry.
