Helicobacter pylori infection remains a significant global health problem. Increasing antibiotic resistance has made recommended therapies less effective. Another potential problem is the recurrence of H. pylori infection after eradication. Investigators in China reviewed 132 studies on H. pylori recurrence from 45 countries, pooling the data from approximately 54,000 people to determine recurrence rates in relation to the Human Development Index (HDI) of the countries where the studies were done.
