The utility of combined-modality treatment for patients with localized diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) has been controversial. To examine this issue further, French investigators conducted a prospective randomized trial in which 334 newly diagnosed patients with nonbulky (<7 cm) stage I–II DLBCL based on positron emission tomography–computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging received immunochemotherapy with or without radiotherapy.
