Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates remain the lowest of all the recommended childhood vaccines, including the other two recommended adolescent vaccines — tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) and meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY). Low HPV vaccination rates have been linked to lack of provider recommendation and parental refusal.
Researchers retrospectively examined a healthcare database for missed opportunities for HPV vaccine administration to adolescent females during a recent 5-year period.
