Heading our Top 10 Stories in 2017 is a study reflecting the integration of transcatheter aortic-valve replacement (TAVR) into interventional cardiology. TAVR with a self-expanding prosthesis was found to be noninferior to surgery for patients with severe aortic stenosis and intermediate surgery risk; the approaches had differing adverse effects. Overall, expanded use of TAVR is good news for patients with aortic stenosis.
