Intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) is one of the leading causes of ischemic stroke. ICAD is particularly common in African American and Asian patients with ischemic stroke. These authors attempted to identify a consecutive group of patients with ICAD and determine whether disease in other vascular beds affects prognosis. The primary study outcome was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), including stroke, myocardial infarction, vascular death, and major peripheral vascular events.
