Despite the widespread dissemination of lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs) into clinical practice of interventional endoscopy, many concerns remain, including clogging of LAMSs, which can result in infection.
In a recent single-center, retrospective study, researchers evaluated the effect of placing a double-pigtail stent in a LAMS on pancreatic pseudocyst resolution and risk for infection in 47 patients. Half of patients underwent pseudocyst draining by LAMS alone and the other half with a double-pigtail stent through the LAMS.
