Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is the most common chronic autoimmune neuropathy (prevalence, 4–9 per 100,000 population). Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) is used widely to treat this disease. However, subcutaneous IgG (SCIG) has fewer severe and overall adverse effects, perhaps because of a slower rise to peak intravascular concentration, while increasing patient autonomy, improving quality of life, and leading to cost savings when used for other immune conditions.
