Individuals differ considerably in sensitivity to sensory and emotional stimuli. Some individuals are very sensitive to negative environments (threat, deprivation) but seem to thrive under positive environments (encouragement, resources), whereas others, more resilient to adversity, seemingly thrive anywhere, in a variety of environments. Researchers in the current study aimed to better characterize sensitivity in the general population and to examine personality correlates of sensitivity levels.
