Several clinical trials have been published since 2015 demonstrating the value of endovascular therapy (EVT) for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) in the anterior circulation. These trials typically had detailed inclusion and exclusion criteria regarding baseline imaging characteristics and time from symptom onset. One of the trials (MR CLEAN) was performed exclusively within the Netherlands. The MR CLEAN authors have now evaluated EVT outcome in “routine practice” by comparing results of patients in the MR CLEAN Registry with the interventional patients treated in the randomized trial.
