Zika virus infection has taken Central and South America and the Caribbean by storm since it was first recognized in Brazil in 2015, and the most worrisome complications continue to involve the central nervous system of fetuses exposed in utero to maternal infection. Although no approved vaccine against Zika virus is yet available, these authors have developed an age-stratified model to help determine optimal vaccination strategies in several countries and territories in the affected areas.
