While the sniffing position is generally recommended for direct laryngoscopy, video laryngoscopy, with its different technique and device designs, may be facilitated by different positions. These authors tested whether different patient positioning (neutral or “sniffing”) facilitates intubation using the C-MAC or KingVision video laryngoscopes.
Two hundred generally healthy, nonobese adults who were scheduled to undergo intubation for elective surgery were randomized (1:1:1:1) to each combination of position and device.
