Many U.S. hospitals participate in recognized stroke care quality-measurement programs. These programs are designed to encourage use of evidence-based acute treatment and prevention measures. Whether participation in these programs is associated with actual improvement in clinical care is unclear.
These authors performed an analysis of the large REGARDS study, which assesses disparities and outcomes in stroke.
