Abiraterone (combined with prednisone) and enzalutamide have been shown to improve survival in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). However, resistance to these agents develops at variable time points, and only a limited response occurs following a crossover from either agent to the alternative drug.
Investigators evaluated the potential to overcome acquired enzalutamide resistance by performing a novel prospective, randomized study of 509 patients (median age, 72 years) with asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic, chemotherapy-naive mCRPC.
