The allure that biomarkers might assist in selecting depression treatments or predicting treatment response has led to commercialization of strategies based on genomics, neuroimaging, and quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG). The American Psychiatric Association's biomarkers task force has now studied electroencephalographic biomarkers for prediction of treatment response in major depression.
Of 76 articles (covering 81 QEEG biomarkers) suitable for descriptive analyses, 53 articles (57 biomarkers) had enough data to be included in meta-analyses.
