Cross-sectional studies have shown increased rates of gaming disorder (GD) among young adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and increased rates of ADHD among young adults with GD. To study potential interactions and temporal associations between the two disorders, Swiss investigators followed 5,067 young men first recruited at enrollment for military service for a study of substance use risk factors. Participants completed screening questionnaires for ADHD (past 12 months), GD (past 6 months), substance use disorders (SUD), mood disorders, life satisfaction, and poor work/school performance.
