Patients with Crohn disease (CD) are often interested in managing their disease with dietary intervention. Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) has been shown to have a positive effect on disease scores in children, but adherence is low in adults. Investigators in Scotland, some with support from the manufacturer of the proprietary feeding formula, compared effects on fecal and tissue microbiome and gut inflammation of an individualized food-based diet similar in composition to a popular European enteral feeding formula versus EEN in 25 healthy adults.
