A Medication for Patients with Tardive Dyskinesia and a Mood Disorder

Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is an involuntary movement disorder that can occur with prolonged exposure to typical or atypical antipsychotics. Because these are increasingly used for nonpsychotic disorders, rates of TD have been rising. People with nonpsychotic disorders and TD may experience distress from even slightly noticeable abnormal movements, and mood disorders are an independent risk factor for TD.
