Aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are known to have colorectal cancer (CRC) chemopreventive benefits. The mechanism of action is likely multifactorial and may include platelet inhibition. To further assess this possibility, investigators assessed whether clopidogrel, an antiplatelet agent with a different mechanism of action than aspirin, could also be associated with reduced CRC risk.
