Up to 3% of the population may have saccular unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs). With increasing use of neuroimaging, the discovery of incidental UIAs is increasing. Finding an aneurysm leads to a discussion of treatment with either endovascular therapy (EVT) or neurosurgical treatment (NST). Risks of treatment must be weighed against the potential risks of aneurysm rupture. These authors conducted a meta-analysis of studies with at least 50 adult patients published since the year 2011 that provided outcome data on procedural risks and case fatality during UIA treatment and for 30 days afterward.
