Omadacycline is a new-generation tetracycline approved by the FDA in the fall of 2018 (NEJM JW Infect Dis Dec 2018 and Nuzyra (omadacycline) prescribing information) for treatment of acute bacterial skin and soft-tissue infections (ABSSIs) and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP). The results of two manufacturer-funded, phase 3 clinical trials supporting the compound's approval have now been published.
