A fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is sometimes administered to patients in the interval between a recent colonoscopy and their next recommended examination. Current guidelines from the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer (CRC) suggest offering colonoscopy to patients who have a positive interval FIT, although evidence is scant and derived primarily from high-risk cohorts.
