Adolescent cigarette use is in decline. However, sexual minority youth (SMY), including lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) teenagers, are more likely to report cigarette use. Researchers examined whether disparities in cigarette use have changed with growing societal acceptance of LGB youth and those unsure of their sexuality. Using data derived from six administrations of a biennial national survey between 2005 and 2015, the investigators compared prevalence of lifetime and heavy (≥20 days during past month) cigarette use between heterosexual youth and SMY.
