Routine childhood vaccination contributes to child survival. But is this intervention reaching all children? To assess coverage with diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DPT) vaccine in Africa over time and space, investigators analyzed survey data (2000–2016) and used Bayesian geostatistical modeling to produce annual estimates of DPT coverage and dropout for children (aged 12–23 months) in 52 African countries (spatial scale, 5 km x 5 km). Investigators calibrated data to results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2017.
