Adjuvant chemotherapy given either pre- or postoperatively improves survival in patients with resected gastric cancer. In Asia, the standard of care after D2 gastrectomy is to administer postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy with either 1 year of S-1 or 6 months of capecitabine and oxaliplatin without the use of radiotherapy.
Investigators from Japan now report results from the JACCRO GC-07 trial, a multicenter, open-label, randomized, phase III study of patients with stage III gastric cancer post–D2 gastrectomy. Patients were treated with 1 year of adjuvant S-1 with or without 6 months of docetaxel.
