Standardized scoring of PET-based interim treatment response is predictive of ultimate remission and cure in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). The prior retrospective, phase III RAPID trial (NEJM JW Oncol Hematol Jun 2015 and N Engl J Med 2015; 372:1598) showed that with the use of strict, centrally reviewed PET-imaging criteria for response-adapted treatment, 9 of 10 patients with early-stage HL were spared additional chemotherapy or radiotherapy after three cycles of ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine).
