Patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) or minor stroke have short-term risk for recurrent stroke and are typically admitted to assess for modifiable causes. To determine the safety and feasibility of performing this evaluation in the outpatient setting, researchers retrospectively studied outcomes in patients who participated in a program involving emergency department (ED) discharge and next-day specialty clinic follow-up at a single academic medical center.
