Pregnancy can be considered a physiologic stress test; as such, it could have value for cardiovascular (CV) risk prediction. Moreover, for women with factors arising during pregnancy that are associated with excess risk for CV complications (e.g., hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, placental abruption, fetal growth restriction), better standardized postpregnancy assessment may be a means to improve long-term health.
