The utility of biomarkers in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) continues to evolve. European and North American researchers analyzed data from single-center and multicenter cohorts to determine patient-level models to predict conversion from MCI to dementia of any cause. The demographics model included age, sex, and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores. The hippocampal model included hippocampal volume, age, and MMSE scores. The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) model included amyloid-β 1-42, total tau, MMSE scores, and the interaction between amyloid-β and total tau. The amyloid-tau-neurodegeneration (ATN) model included amyloid-β, phosphorylated tau, and hippocampal volume.
