Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) was originally treated with antimicrobials such as oral vancomycin and metronidazole. CDI has a propensity to recur and lead to complications including blood stream infections (BSIs) and treatment failure. In the past decade, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been effective in curing CDI and preventing recurrence. Is FMT also effective in reducing incidence of BSI, shortening hospitalization duration, and improving overall survival (OS)?
