Aiming to address the critical shortage of organs, the strategy of expected transmission of hepatitis C virus (HCV) from organ donors to recipients with subsequent use of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) to cure recipients has been described in heart, lung, and kidney recipients (NEJM JW Infect Dis Jun 2019 and N Engl J Med 2019; 380:1606; NEJM JW Infect Dis Oct 2018 and Ann Intern Med 2018; 169:273). Now, investigators have retrospectively reviewed data on transplantation of livers from HCV-seropositive donors into 26 HCV-seronegative recipients at one center from January 1, 2017, to August 31, 2019.
