Although severe symptomatic tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is associated with reduced survival, it is often treated conservatively. In this observational study, investigators analyzed registry data from 22 centers performing investigational and off-label interventions for TR and compared those outcomes with consecutive patients treated medically at two institutions. Propensity-score matching was used to identify 268 patient pairs for analysis.
Patients' mean age was 76, 57% were women, and >90% had functional etiology. Transcatheter therapy successfully reduced TR to moderate or less in 86% of patients.
