Previous research has highlighted gaps in emergency medical service (EMS) readiness to serve children, who represent roughly 10% of emergency calls. The National Association of EMS Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, Emergency Nurses Association, and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians released a joint policy statement (and supporting technical document) to frame prehospital operations and clinical care discussions for the care of children.
