Polypectomy is generally performed during colonoscope withdrawal, after the cecum has been reached. However, polyps can be encountered during insertion and subsequently difficult to locate during withdrawal. Previous studies have shown no overall advantage of removing polyps during insertion but did not consider the effect of a selective approach targeting small left-sided polyps.
