A digital version of cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (dCBT-I) has been shown to be effective. To examine its usefulness during pregnancy, researchers randomized 208 pregnant women with insomnia but without other major psychiatric problems (mean age, 34; mean gestational age, 18 weeks) to usual care or 6 weekly sessions of dCBT-I delivered via website or an iPhone app. The intervention included cognitive therapy, education, relaxation techniques, sleep hygiene, sleep restriction, and stimulus control. Usual care was unrestricted and could include medications and alternative remedies to help with sleep.
