The 2019 novel coronavirus that has emerged from Wuhan, China, has become a pandemic, as the World Health Organization declared last week. Formerly called 2019-nCoV, the virus is now taxonomically termed SARS-CoV-2; the WHO has named the clinical condition COVID-19.
