Electrosurgical snare resection is routinely used for polypectomy, but the optimal current types and settings are unclear due to sparse evidence.
In an industry-funded, multicenter, randomized, controlled, 2×2 factorial trial, investigators assessed more than 900 patients who underwent endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of large (≥20 mm) non-pedunculated polyps. Patients were assigned to receive either clip closure or no clip closure of the resection defect, and then to receive either a pure coagulation current (Forced Coagulation) or a blended-cut coagulation current (Endocut).
