COVID-19 Gynecology Practice Recommendations from ACOG

To accompany its newly released COVID-19 Practice Advisory, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has posted a rolling list of COVID-19 FAQs containing guidance for gynecologic providers based on expert opinion that supplements recommendations from the CDC and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

This guidance clarifies criteria for prioritizing care in various settings and provides the following examples.

• In-person appointment:

  • Suspected ectopic pregnancy

  • Profuse vaginal bleeding

• Video or telephone visit:

  • Contraceptive counseling and prescribing

  • Management of menopausal symptoms
