Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection is decreasingly successful using standard treatment regimens due to increasing antibiotic resistance. Specifically, the rapidly rising resistance of H. pylori to clarithromycin, levofloxacin, and metronidazole has led to recommendations against the empirical use of these drugs as part of combination therapies.
