The high variability and poor quality of many safety studies in child and adolescent psychopharmacology add to the complexities of choosing psychiatric medications for these patients. These investigators conducted the first-ever systematic metareview focusing on adverse effects of four categories of psychotropic medications prescribed for children and adolescents.
The data came from 9 network meta-analyses; 39 meta-analyses; 90 large randomized, controlled trials; and 8 well-designed matched cohort studies.
