National health registry–based studies from several Scandinavian countries have yielded valuable information on sociodemographic factors, comorbidities, course, and outcome in various psychiatric disorders. In the U.S., however, large-scale psychiatric registries have been slow to develop, in part limited by the lack of a national health system.
