The role of platinum-based chemotherapy for BRCA-mutated breast cancer and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains a subject of debate. Trials such as TNT (Nat Med 2018; 24:628) showed that a platinum agent (carboplatin) offered a clinical advantage over a taxane (docetaxel) in patients with BRCA-associated TNBC, but not in other TNBC patients.
