Recent studies demonstrate the psychiatric risks of cannabis, especially for adolescents (e.g., NEJM JW Psychiatry Jun 2020 and J Stud Alcohol Drugs 2020; 81:164). In the current longitudinal birth-cohort study, researchers examined the relationship between cannabis potency and concurrent mental health and substance use in 1087 U.K. residents aged 24 years who reported cannabis use in the past year. Thirteen percent of participants reported using high-potency cannabis (i.e., higher tetrahydrocannabinol [THC] concentration) and 87% used lower-potency preparations.
