In 2019, Slynd, a new contraceptive progestin-only pill (POP; 24 4-mg drospirenone tablets and 4 inert tablets per pack) received FDA approval (NEJM JW Womens Health Aug 2019; multiple citations). To assess this POP's performance in teens, European researchers conducted an open-label, multicenter manufacturer-sponsored 6-cycle trial with a 7-cycle extension phase. Among 102 participants (age range, 12–17; median age, 16; 99% white), 87% completed 6 cycles and 72% completed 13 cycles.
