Last week, news broke that the dexamethasone component of the RECOVERY trial was halted because those receiving the drug were significantly more likely to survive. The paper hasn't been published in a peer-reviewed journal yet. But until it is published, Dr. Paul Sax notes in the latest HIV and ID Observations, we have now highly favorable results in the most important clinical endpoint in any interventional study, and it's hard to imagine not offering dexamethasone — today — to patients who could benefit from it.
